Summer Snaps, Harlem USA.

This summer, I quit my job and decided to stay in New York for a extended visit. It was glorious. Something about New York always refreshes me and my creative energy. It might be the people, it might be the freedom (anything you want is a train or bus ride away), it might be the food or the overall energy of it. Although I pretty much went broke, I had so much fun hitting the pavement and doing as I so pleased when I so pleased. My only regret is not taking more pictures. Here's my collection of my favorite place to be (no really, my favorite place in this world): a mid summer Harlem.

Netflix Summer Pick: Roman Holiday

Hello, everyone. Let me explain my predicament to you all. It just so happens that my heart is always travelling. It's perpetually in some sophisticated European country with amazing architecture or some South or some carefree Central American town. Sometimes, it's even exploring South Asian temples on a quest for religious understanding amongst the monks. But my body, my physical location is not in agreement, primarily because my wallet is in aversion to this wanderlust tendency. So like all other broke girls, I must resort to Pinterest and Netflix to get my fix of travel. This is exactly what I did.

We are so wimbleDON...

It isn't everyday that you hear a song from black girls relating directly to tennis. Trust me. There are mentions of Serena and Venus, quite possibly even a cameo from them but there has certainly never been a song revolving around tennis. That was until Rich White Ladies and their new song Wimbledon. Released, quite cleverly, during Wimbledon, the duo casually flung their hair and batted their eyes and twirled their rackets to the catchiest beat since Fancy and created a song that could easily take the former's top spot.

Scotty Rebel, the vocalist of Rich White Ladies

Tokyo Diva, the rapper of the duo Rich White Ladies
Can we talk about the absolute perfection of these outfits? Take a moment.
Now I'll admit, the first time I watched I watched for the styling. I mean, it wasn't hard to be enchanted by the looks in that video. Cohesively posh and edgy, Scotty Rebel and Tokyo Diva were dressed to kill and from my perspective, they slayed. To be honest, I was quite fascinated with all the looks, especially that of Scotty Rebel and the gold jumpsuit and raven like fascinator.

"You serve ratchet. I serve the bad bitch." Flawless and carefree. This is what Beyonce wanted for us.

Queen Betsey regulates the match. Can you imagine?
All in all, the song shows vocal talent and a very good flow. The first time may not sell you but after the third listen, you, just like I, will be completely obsessed. The attitude of it all, the looks, the exuberance of the duo only says one thing to me...

It is the summer of the carefree black girls. And we will be victorious.
